For me, finances don't top the list when it comes to reasons not to have kids. You could give me a billion dollars and I still wouldn't reproduce. I would spend that money on better things like charity and helping the people who already exist. Telling by the huge number of single mothers living on welfare I don't think finances are actually deterring women anyways. Why do more women choose not have kids? Perhaps they grew up watching the example of their own struggling single mother. They had the example of an early life abusive relationship that women with kids too frequently get trapped in leading to generations of familial dysfunction and problems. Perhaps women now realize that the break down of social norms and advances in birth control give them other options besides motherhood.
Or maybe people are waking up to the fact that the Earth is overpopulated already and we really don't need to add to the 7 billion people already living here. The "no ways" need to expand and become a real movement.
