Its true that the vast internet is a good source of information but it contains much misinformation, half-truths, and false ideas. This misinformation comes in all forms and that includes the so-called "skeptic rational" crowd. Their not the source of all-knowing authority on truth either. What does it mean for something to be true anyways? If the world is not divided into denialist "rationalists" and naive psychic wannabes then how can we sort it out? You almost need to understand that those enlightened individuals who hold a true interest in a particular subject can easily pick the good stuff out of the digital pile. In amongst the crap is always something informative and empowering. I may have said before that I have an interest in topics that lean towards alternative and "fringe." With little intuition and constructive imagination you can disassemble any site's source, author, and articles. Cumulative knowledge and cross checking are useful also. If one alternative health site claims something are you able to find it anywhere else? Does that new footbath technology really do what it says it does or is it only their promotional site making the claim? On the other side, is someone so entrenched in their paradigm their blind to anything else. I don't trust those who truth-tell or go around claiming everything is a fraud. A refusal to an open mind whether it be true or not is enemy of progress. Religion comes in many guises: ideology, consumerism, science, attitude, contrary, traditional, etc.
My last best advice is to get off the computer and read a book, join like-minded groups, go to events or meet-ups, or simply do your own research. Everything should be taken in context.
