Henry David Thoreau
I hope that many of my writings on this site come to reflect the above quote by our most famous nature writer. Start writing as to give a small clue to what the words really mean and follow it up by trying it out for myself. I can finish a fantasy novel and dream, I can take a walk and write about what I saw, I can sum it up in verse, and reflect in the personal section. But only by truly going there can I give depth to what I write about. Only by getting ourselves wet across the proverbial river of stones that look good for crossing can we learn that they are not. But it is in us to see this before the time comes to cross or even if we must. For some people anyways, for many others they'll have to fall in before learning that the stones really are below the water and can't cross without getting wet. I certainly hope I'm not one of these people.
