Kids can be obnoxious eaters and husbands demanding. I don't have to deal with that, but many other people do so maybe thats why many Americans don't want to turn on the stove. There was a reason for the woman's movement afterall.
In this article, Michael Pollan talks about his recent book and the importance of cooking as a weapon against the processed food industry. I mostly agree with what he says, however, it should be mentioned that perhaps theres another reason beyond the American aversion to cooking. Most people have families and in a family its usually women who get stuck with the cooking. Not fair and women don't deserve to be chained to the kitchen again. I know I would hate cooking for a lot of people (another childfree benefit).
