A recent article here talks about the nearly 20,000 homeless children living on the streets of New York. Hey, its sad that kids have to grow up in that kind of rough life, however, the blame should ultimately be on the parents who had a child they couldn't afford. If you really thought about your decisions and cared about others why would you knowingly bring a person into this world that your not able to care for. One commentator said something along the lines that "women rarely tear down their families or husbands". Somebodys delusional as they obviously haven't heard of the vast amounts of wives who treat their husband like crap and ignore him in favor of the kids (though his job makes it possible for her to stay home). Look on mothercentric forums where women frequently talk badly about their husbands or watch the news reports of women killing and neglecting their kids (or their latest boyfriend harming the kid). Of course, its a cruel act in itself to force another person into existence.
The childless/childfree should not have more taxes taken from them to pay for someone elses irresponsible lifestyle decision. Would the government be willing to fund my lifestyle choices like buying a sportscar or going on vacation? Yes, the childfree pay higher taxes that goes towards "families" with children. While they themselves are not eligible for the same benefits such as food stamps and section A housing. I would not be able to sign up for the social safety net in the case that I needed it someday.
As for maternity leave, why don't we first pay women who are actually accomplishing things with their life? Such as going through college or starting a business. Why should women have to still be living at home at 25 while some other woman who couldn't bother to wait until she was in stable situation be able to live off welfare in her own place? If I daresay that it doesn't make sense to send a free check to someone who may or may not be taking care of their kids anyways and telling by the out-of-control behavior of many kids today I doubt the mother is doing much "childrearing".
Well, its almost a trait of mothers that they expect free handouts just because they have dependents. Now theres talk of a maternity wage, but once again do we actually know if shes taking care of the kids? She chose to reproduce afterall so why should society be willing to fund her voluntary decision when their not willing to pay people for not reproducing. Do we really need more people in this vastly overpopulated, job-scarce, and polluted world? Its almost cruel to bring more people here. Allowing childed women to take time off work is ridiculous also as its once again unfair to the unchilded who can't use their kids as an excuse to get off work. Employers don't want to pay someone for a 40 hour week when they only worked 25 hours a week.
Reward irresponsible behavior and punish the responsible. The new feminist agenda should encourage women not to reproduce instead of merely giving special privileges to mothers.
