Perhaps the first sacrifice is war (not that I personally know much about actual warfare). Those hearts ripped away to become but flowers to the Giver Of Life as a sacrifice for the tensions of our age. War seems to envelope every century of humanity since the Agricultural revolution. When we first used our stone tools not for food preparation, but against each other to compete for resources that could once easily be obtained from a nomadic life. Then the Crusades came around under the banner of a god meant to scare people into obedience. Since the early 19th century we've seen the ugliness of modern warfare and its all out devastation on people. Today once again we hear the war horns sound in parts of the world as fear, resources, power, politics, and other motivations move the board to drain our economy. We our living out the prophecy of the Aztecs in so many ways in this 4 movement age.
But what of this continuous sacrifice? Can we not see it all around us? Whacked out climate patterns, corruption in the highest levels, backward priorities, private greed, and destruction of environment. Our sacrifice will be any wellbeing for the ages to come. A sacrifice our minds and lives to never know an age without war.
